Community Health Services to Host Free Prostate Cancer Screenings at Parkland Medical Center - September 27, 2006

Community Health Services (CHS) will be holding free prostate cancer screenings on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Dr. Edward A. Chibaro, Urology, will be conducting the screenings at Parkland Medical Center¡¦s Oncology Clinic in Derry.

Yearly prostate screenings are recommended for men over 40 who are in high-risk groups, and men over 50 who are not at risk. The screenings are open to men over the age of 40 and will include an exam to detect abnormalities of the prostate and a blood test to screen for elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) that may indicate cancer. According to Dr. Chibaro, "PSA is a substance produced by the prostate gland. Testing the amount of PSA circulating in your bloodstream can help identify a serious prostate condition."

The screenings will be held in Suite 209 of the Nutfield Professional Building at 44 Birch Street. Space is limited and appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling (603) 421-2458.
